Publication series and artist booklets

Almost all publications in the “Kolumba” series, which was founded in 1996, are catalogs of the collection, as – with a few exceptions – they are dedicated to the works in our own collection, which we present in various series:

Collection volumes: the most extensive are those volumes that present a comprehensive focus of the collection or document the handling of the collection in the changing annual exhibitions as a “selection”. An index that grows with each selection volume makes the collection accessible.

Work books: The carefully designed monographs are dedicated to the artistic focal points whose depth of collection allows a presentation of the entire oeuvre with its own holdings. They are illustrated in detail and in the best possible quality.

Workbooks: Individual major works are presented with introductory essays and generous illustrations. A special series of booklets is dedicated to the medieval manuscripts in the Renate König Collection and Donation with texts in three languages. As the building with all its surviving fragments is the largest work of art, the building history of the Kolumba site is also published in booklets.

Ortswechsel: Under this title, we publish the few but outstanding loans that impressively enrich our annual exhibitions and illustrated books on the unusual exhibition collaborations that characterize our museum concept.

Artists' booklets: In addition to the publication series, we have been publishing artists' booklets in one-off and small editions as bibliophile collector's items since 1994. In 2008, the format grew from DIN A6 to DIN A5 and thread stitching was added. The booklets usually have 32 pages of content, which is available to the artists for free use.
