20th Sound Workshop – Music in Motion: Hildegard von Bingen, Psalms and Gregorian chant

with Oliver Sproll, Stefanie Brijoux, Ars Choralis Coeln

The 20th Sound Workshop is dedicated to the music of Hildegard von Bingen, Gregorian chant and psalm singing. The abbess, composer and writer Hildegard von Bingen left us the largest body of music from the Middle Ages. Today, she would be described as a universal genius – a mystic who was also politically active: a self-assured woman who challenged the patriarchal environment and was able to achieve her goals. Oliver Sproll, together with the participants of the Sound Workshop, will present the resulting works, which have been enriched by Gregorian chant and psalm singing. The voices of the schola and the instruments resonate within the museum’s unique acoustics, moving through the space and thereby revealing new approaches to musical expression and (stage) presentation. The afternoon at Kolumba forms part of the KlosterKlaenge concert series.

The standard museum admission fee applies.
