Always on the move! – A Ukrainian Kolumba
Admission is free – come and go and come again...

On the day before Ukrainian Independence Day, a one-day cultural festival transforms the museum into a Ukrainian Kolumba during the reconstruction phase for the new annual exhibition. Films, performances, readings, dance, music, talks and visual art will provide a glimpse of contemporary Ukrainian art. Against the backdrop of Russian war propaganda that there is no independent Ukrainian identity and thus no Ukrainian culture, cultural institutions and places that prove the opposite are being systematically destroyed. Kolumba, as a place that itself stands on a ruined gravel pit, provides the space for the 12-hour event initiated and organized by the Blue-Yellow Cross with the support of the Ukrainian Consulate General. The aim of the cultural day is not the documentation of a Ukrainian national art, but rather an insight into the country, which is completely unknown to most people living in Germany, from an artistic point of view. In addition to the landscape, the history associated with many painful ruptures, the literary and musical traditions fed from the most diverse sources, the diversity of the people is reflected. The latter concerns the peaceful coexistence, without Russian influence, of the most diverse ethnic groups, who were repeatedly accepted as displaced persons in Ukraine and were able to make their home there. Modernity and tradition are not - as is often the case in Western Europe (urban and rural) - in confrontation with each other, but rather cross-fertilize. André Erlen's team has succeeded in putting together a very diverse and ambitious program.  (www.bgk-verein.de/aufbruch
